Ryan clicked on each article in turn, reading about the events of nine years back. “Doesn’t tell us much.”

Looking over her shoulder, Rap relived his past, turning away when Ryan opened the last article. “There wasn’t much to tell. No clues. They all simply disappeared.”

“We know why now. Don’t we?” Ryan asked, not needing an answer.

“I guess we do. Won’t be much consolation to her family.”

“Or you.”

“Or me. Print them out. We can take a closer look later.” Rap suggested.

Ryan printed the seven articles. “I think you’re right though. We desperately need more information. Let’s go down to the microfilm desk.”

“Can you start without me?” Rap asked, and then added, “I want to go find Freddy and get him started on something else.”

“What are you going to have Freddy do?”

“I want him to research the literature. There have to be ways to beat demons.”

“You really think so?” Ryan asked.

“If demons really exist, and I’m starting to believe that’s true, we are not the first to have to deal with them, are we?”

Ryan nodded her assent. “So you’re thinking we can find some clues in the past.”

“I hope so.” Rap said.

“Me too. You go ahead. I’ll go over and get started with the microfilm.”

“Okay.” Rap leaned over and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before turning and walking away.

Ryan watched him walk away. Nice butt, she thought. She rose from her seat, but then sat back down thinking she might as well check her email. She typed in the URL to her web mail and waited for the browser to make the connection. Once it did, she entered her username and password. The email program opened.
